Around 50 animals with no water and little food seized in Asheboro, animal control says

ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- Around 50 animals were seized in Asheboro on Monday, according to deputies and animal control officials.

A woman reportedly owned about 47 dogs, a goat and a rabbit that were all seized. Officials say she owned over 100 animals in total.

The animals had no water and often no food.

Randolph County deputies tell FOX8 they seized the 50 animals from a house, and there could be further charges.

Officials plan to return and check out the rest of the animals.

Ten animals have foster homes now. It will take about three weeks for all of them to be seen by veterinarians.

Eleven of them were in dire need of help. None of the animals have died.

This is a developing story.
