I-77 south shut down after crash in Surry County

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash shut down part of Interstate 77 south near Elkin in Surry County, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

NCDOT reports the incident began at 5:10 a.m.

The interstate is closed near exit 85 for N.C. 268.

The road is expected to reopen by 7 a.m.

Surry County EMS confirmed that they are on scene.

Drivers can take exit 101 to get onto I-74 east to exit 11 for U.S. 601. From there, turn right onto U.S. 601 south and drive 26 miles before taking a left onto U.S. 421. Take exit 265 to get back onto I-77.
